ABOUT THE SHOW
Wonderful Union proudly presents "Object" by the creative collective Royale. Through an intense and visceral depiction of assembly, disassembly and ultimately destruction, the exhibit proposes an alternate perspective on the idea of essence in the absence of semantic distortion.
Clinical, deconstructed imagery of everyday objects are juxtaposed with a frenetic, sinister video installation, creating a philosophical and aesthetic dichotomy that is at once beautiful and unsettling. Inspired by the the work of the late philosopher/scientist Alfred Korzybski, namely the discipline of General Semantics, the exhibit explores the concept that an object's essence cannot be achieved by way of its definition.
